Sugar & Gravy Movie Mania #4
Just one.....
#1 (and only): "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2"
Terrible. Really..... it was just bad. I laughed genuinely maybe twice, but aside from those two laughs, I just made fun of it throughout. It was cheesy, predictable, and lame. Ick! However, I read the first two books and truly enjoyed them, so it's not the story that's bad, it's the screen adaptation. Brutal.
Rating = 1.6/5.0 (and I think that's being generous)
That said, there was one upside:

Bridget Vreeland played by Blake Lively = YUM!

Stranger Sex + TV = Gravy Weekend
Alright, another weekend over... what have we got?
#1: Some TV shows that rock?
"Clark & Michael" starring Michael Cera & Clark Duke on http://www.clarkandmichael.com/.
"Freaks & Geeks" starring Seth Rogen, James Franco, Linda Cardellini and others.
#2: I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW TODAY AND SAW PEOPLE HAVING SEX!!!
Seriously, I was going downstairs and just glanced out the window and saw two bodies on top of each other thrusting and rolling around and moving.
It would've been hot, but the sex just didn't look good. Both of them had good bodies and stuff, but it just was NOT hot sex. They were barely moving.
Booorrrriiiinnnngggg..........
All in a day's weekend!

Apparently he played 5 songs at the wedding of these power lesbos!
P.S. Please excuse the bad resolution on those photos - I just google-imaged them.
P.P.S. Please excuse the fact that Portia looks like a Barbie.

Sugar & Gravy Movie Mania #3
3 movies this weekend - 1 in theatres and 2 I've already seen.
#1: "Mamma Mia"
Fabulous! I've been listening to the soundtrack for weeks, but I finally got to see it and I loved it! Simple, great cast, some really fun scenes, and fab singing!
Rating = 4.5/5.0
#2: "The Usual Suspects"
This was on TV this morning and I got to see the whole thing! It's been about 5 years since I saw it last and it's never as good as it was the first time, but it was still great. Awesome cast (although there are some real B-list actors in there - even though they were great in the movie) and a GREAT twist, of course. I love Kevin Spacey.
Rating = 4.2/5.0
#3: "The Royal Tenenbaums"
Very dark, very weird, and very Wes Anderson. Great movie! I can't believe Owen Wilson co-wrote it. That's pretty cool! It's full of black comedy, but it's heart-felt and original. Also - Gwyneth is SO great in it!
Rating = 4.4/5.0
Also - I've been watching episode after episode of "Entourage". GREAT show!

Kanye to Noah K
I like the idea of one thing leading to another... unless it's getting drunk leading to having a baby.
Here's what I mean...
1. I check out Kanye West's blog: http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/
2. I see something that I must have:
It's a clock AND a CD shelf... AWESOME!
3. I see a funny video:
4. I find another really cool video:
Read more about Noah's Everyday project HERE.
See more of Noah's photos HERE.

I'M lovin it.
The Japanese really do everything sexier... even McDonald's.
I love the "sexy(?)" face the guy makes at the end of his commercial.
Speaking of fast food commercials -- have you seen the Wendy's one??? I've been waiting for a commercial like that for ages!

Gravyhound
I'm a fairly social person, I'd say, but when I ride the bus (namely, the Greyhound) I am desperate to sit alone. Today I was so close but the last person who climbed onto the bus sat next to me. Ugh!!!
I suppose I should be grateful that it wasn't Vincent Li.

Sugar & Gravy Movie Mania #2
I saw 3 (count them: 1...2...3!!!) movies this weekend.
#1: "The Science of Sleep" (or La Science des reves)
This wasn't the first time I saw this flick, but it was the first time I saw it in a certain state of being, if you know what I mean. It's a beautiful and fantastical film and Gael Garcia Bernal is phenomenal - he plays a man who inverts dreams and reality, which has an impact on his love life. It's a great movie - highly recommended by me!
Rating = 4.7/5.0
#2: "The Bucket List"
Really cute movie with some tear-jerker scenes for sure. Not much more than that, I'd say.
Rating = 3.9/5.0
#3: "I'm Reed Fish"
Very cool film. My sister and I picked it up mostly because of two of the lead roles - Jay Baruchel (who you may know from "Knocked Up", or a Canadian favourite, "Popular Mechanics for Kids") and Schuyler Fisk. Ms. Fisk is an AWESOME singer and she shows off some of her own songs on the soundtrack as well as during the course of the film (she's also Kristy from "The Baby-Sitter's Club"). The story is also really cool - original and uncoventional, albeit a little choppy at points.
Rating = 4.2/5.0
That's all for now!

Good ol' Billy!
Remember that book I'm reading?
Well I learned something else that's neat:
What do the following words and phrases have in common?
"to thine own self be true", "leapfrog", "flesh and blood", "majestic", "to be in a pickle", "vanish into thin air", "radiance", "one fell swoop", "frugal", "monumental"
They wouldn't exist if it weren't for Shakespeare!!!
How insane is that? He just made them up and now we use them on a fairly regular basis.
UNREAL.

Given the magnitude of our challenges... you'd think that we'd be having a serious debate. But so far all we've been hearing about is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

Sugar & Gravy Movie Mania #1
I saw two movies this weekend:
#1: "Another Gay Movie"
This one sucked, I thought. There were a few funny & campy moments, but it was too much like "American Pie" - aka not my sense of humour.
Rating = 1.7/5.0
#2: "This Is Spinal Tap"
WAY better than #1, but not as good as other Christopher Guest movies that I've seen, namely: "Waiting for Guffman", "Best in Show", and "A Mighty Wind". "For Your Consideration" was good too, but not my favourite either.
Rating = 3.7/5.0
Here is a CLASSIC clip from "Waiting for Guffman":
I'm reading a cool book right now by Bill Bryson called "The Mother Tongue: English and How it Got That Way". The following is a quote from Chapter 1 entitled "The World's Language".

Loves it.More than 300 million people in the world speak English and the rest, it sometimes seems, try to. It would be chartiable to say that the results are sometimes mixed.
Consider this hearty announcement in a Yugoslavian hotel: "The flattening of underwear with pleasure is the job of the chambermaid. Turn to her straightaway." Or this warning to motorists in Tokyo: "When a passenger of the foor heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet at him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage, then tootle him with vigor."

Right As Gravy!
Two things on my mind:
#1: Adele - so soulful, great lyrics, and very groovy.
**That video sounds EXACTLY like her on her album!**
#2: The Greyhound Beheading, a.k.a. the news on everyone's lips (in fact, my girlfriend and I heard people recounting the story when we were out for breakfast this morning).
I find that so incredibly haunting - "He looked totally calm. He didn't say a word I don't think to anybody on the bus ... nothing. Just totally calm."
Terrifying.

Gravy with a "V"
I'm watching Liza Minnelli on Inside the Actors Studio. I'll be honest, I always thought she was a bit of a crazy woman. That's likely thanks to her character on "Arrested Development", whom I love, by the way..... and it's also due to portrayals of her on SNL and stuff.
Anyway, I find her incredibly beautiful, elegant, articulate, wise, and brilliant after watching her on this show.
Here's a segment of it:

Dr. and Mrs. Sugar Gravy
You know what I find so offensive?
Letters written to: "Mr. & Mrs. John Smith"
It's bad enough that she takes on his last name, but his first?
Ugh.
