Sometimes I wake up and music is like oxygen. Here's what's making me bum dance in my chair at work.
Pay attention to around the 1:30 mark when the melody is re-alligned with the beat. Brilliant.
This song is so great! The video cuts through some of the song, but the video is great, too. I prefer the video in some ways because it only plays the first half of the song... the second half is long and boring on the album, I think. And I love JT.
I was tardy to the party (relatively) for Beyonce's self-titled album. My bestie W. chastised me mercilessly and I'm glad I didn't wait any longer than I did. The album is... ***flawless.

Dear Drake...
You know I loved Drake when he came out, and I loved his mix tape and album and pretty much all of his songs. I still enjoy those songs, but I'm waiting for him to blow me away again. If he doesn't blow me away, then everything he did before suddenly loses its value, you know?
I hear he's got a single coming out this month and a new album coming out in October. Drake - your hype has completely died down. Impress me. Impress us all.
That's it.

2 Things
- If Jay-Z really did forget to pay the whole bill for a private plane, is it really that big of a deal? We all know he's good for it.
- Drake's new album Thank Me Later is a goodie, I think! I really like the track "Thank Me Now". It's hot and arrogant and smooth and hard all at once! I love it!

B.S.C.
Dear Drake,
I've loved you for a while now. I was obsessed with your mix tape last summer, and I can't wait for the full album - it'll no doubt be epic.
That being said, your most recent video makes me wonder if you're not a little bat-shit crazy. I'd really like to be able to understand your artistic endeavors. What is going on in this video???
Sincerely,
Sugar&Gravy

Kanaydeeyan #2
Always good to see some well put together Canadian love.
My fave part is obviously Drake's rap, but I appreciate appearances by Jully Black & Hawksley Workman, too. There are some great Canadians in there, but also some randos, PLUS some people that should really retire, as my friend Rachel said.
Derek Whibley (sp.?)... just say no, buddy.

Still can't believe it...
Apparently it's the Year of the Ox.
I dunno, I'd say it's the Year of the Drizzy. Drake is still the number 1 MC on my mind. His rhymes are SO fresh and he has WAY more coming. It's crazy to me that this Degrassi graduate actually has street cred, but he DOES! I love him. It's jokes because being a former Degrassi student can be absolute murder to a career. Once a Degrassi student, always a Degrassi student...
Right Joey Jeremiah? Archie "Snake" Simpson? Caitlin Ryan? Christine "Spike" Nelson? And, of course, Mr. Raditch?

Right, Gravy (pardon the bad res on that photo, but you get the picture).
Anyway, what's even more jokes is that I've been in the same room as Drake before! I used to work at a toy store and he came in with his Mom once to buy a present. I remember seeing him and snickering because he was just NOT a celeb (just like the time I snickered when I saw Bram of Sharon, Lois, and Bram)!
Now he's this huge rapper who's apparently doing legendary things and changing the face of history... or at least the face of Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B history.
Regardless of all that - he's got some AMAZING tracks, and I'm proud of this native Torontonian. A Forest Hill-resident with street cred? I never thought I'd see the day...

I am making an effort to blog, I swear.
Lots of different stuff on my iPod lately, but two artists are standing out: Drake and Lily Allen.
Remember when I talked about Degrassi? Well, what I didn't mention was that a while after the original Degrassi (which started in 1987) ended, they started "Degrassi: The Next Generation" in 2001. I think it barely compares to the original, BUT it certainly is entertaining, and maintains a lot of the things I love about the original - raw-ness, real-ness, edginess, etc. Anyway, there's a character named Jimmy played by a certain Aubrey Drake Graham, a.k.a. Drizzy Drake, a HUGE up-and-coming Rap/R&B artist. I have his album (mixtape? I don't know) entitled "So Far Gone" and it's pretty unreal. My fave song is "Little Bit (feat. Lykke Li)". Check it out!!
Then Lily Allen. She needs no introduction, but she's getting serious play with me lately... on iTunes.
