A little V-Day love
I am on reading break from university and am spending the majority of the week in my hometown of Toronto, Ontario. My reading weeks have always been supreme relaxation time, and I don't see this year's as being any different. Among my plans are: sleeping, having a sauna (or two... or three...) at some point, having a bath, eating well, getting some schoolwork and extracurricular work done, and preparing myself mentally and emotionally to get back to the grind next Monday.
Anyway, on to more interesting things...
In honour of Valentine's Day having just happened, the following is a list of things that I love:
(searching for) new music, fierce fashion (especially when it includes really bright colours), really lazy mornings complete with coffee and music, having a personality/vibe that makes people feel really comfortable talking to me about things, therapy, organizing my iTunes library, massages, getting things done...
There are more things obviously, but that's all I can think of for now!
This has been a bit of a boring post, but I can't seem to concentrate on it any longer, so you'll have to forgive me!

FINNISH-ED
Anyway, it's been a while since I wrote last. Thankfully I've been having far too much fun to be bothered to blog, which is a wonderful thing! My good friend (http://johnniknows.blogspot.com/) has spent quite a bit of time in Helsinki, Finland, and so his friend from there came to Ontario to visit for just under a month. We wanted to show her a killer time while she was here, so in doing that we had a killer time ourselves. I mean, seriously. We partied, we drank, we danced, we smoked, we listened to some INSANE music, we had some roadtrips, and we laughed A LOT. It was probably some of the best times of my life. I will miss that Finnish girl.
She left a few days ago and since she departed I've become insanely sick. All that partying and not enough sleep has left me coughing, sneezing, stuffy nosed, sore throat-ed, and a whole bunch of other shit on top of that. It was worth it, but it still sucks to be sick. I'm taking the day off though, so hopefully lots of liquid, meds, and sleep will kick the shit out of this cold.
Aside from that, I've got some crazy tunes to share with you. Here's a few:

I bet you think this blog is about you.
Here's what I want to talk about today: Carly Simon's song "You're So Vain". It's a wonderfully written song about a jackass guy who thinks he's the shit, a.k.a. he's so vain. It's an amazing song because we all know someone like the subject of the song -- people who are so into themselves, who expect others to just hang on to their every word, and who assume that everyone is at their beck and call.
So, because we're so able to relate to Carly, we're quite interested in who this song could possibly be about..... and apparently, so is the whole frickin' world.
Wikipedia (a trustworthy source, obviously) tells me that the song "spawned what many fans consider to be the biggest musical mystery of the era". Who is this man? Carly Simon was involved with many celebrities and musicians in her prime, so which one is the subject of this song? Some suggestions are Mick Jagger, Cat Stevens, Warren Beatty, and James Taylor... Man, Carly really got around!!
I think it's so awesome that she never told anyone. It maintains a continued interest in a song released in '72. It's like this little secret that she can keep to herself... actually, that's not true! According to Wiki, "Dick Ebersol, president of NBC Sports and a friend of Simon, was the highest bidder for a Martha's Vineyard Possible Dreams charity auction offering in which the prize was the revelation of the person that "You're So Vain" was about. After making the winning bid of $50,000, Ebersol was given a private performance of the song at Simon's home. After a lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and vodka on the rocks, Simon whispered the subject into his ear."
HOW FUCKING COOL IS THAT?!?!?!
So this guy Dick knows, and Carly knows, but nobody else knows..... Loves it.
Sometimes I think our world lacks mystery, and then Carly hits us with a doozy.

Sugargravy the Latte Gal
Then I decided to go on YouTube and look for fun videos to cheer myself up. So, I went to my favourite videos and stumbled upon one that a friend showed me the other day and I watched it again... then again... then again... Now, in the past 2 hours, I've probably watched it 7 times, so I wanted to share it with you.
Now I am in a FANTASTIC mood. I hope it does the same for you.

Mmmmm Mena Suvari.
Brilliant fucking movie.
Alan Ball is truly a genius. Between "American Beauty" and "Six Feet Under", he's totally got me as a life-long fan.
In other news: still mourning the goddamn break-up and still feeling pretty assy, BUT - life goes on and at the very least I'll go on with it.

Some things I've learned over the past month...
(2) MGMT is the most uplifting band ever!
(3) If I want to be the Mac Daddy Pimp, I can be.
It's been a rough month, but it's now over and that's something to be happy about.
Things won't be easy for a while, if ever, but they will get easier.
In the meantime, I can have some fun!
